Container Weekly 23, 2026

Charter Market

The container chartering market this week saw the infamous Posidonia event in Greece, where most of the 'who's who' in shipping attended.
Rumors in the Panamax segment suggest that a Chinese-controlled newbuilding had been fixed for a one-year charter in the low USD 60k's, with delivery in 2026.

The feeder segment below 2,000 TEU was again the most active in terms of fixtures reported, as it is the only segment with prompt tonnage.

Newbuilding

The Posidonia week didn't bring major changes to the market sentiment seen during recent weeks, and activity remained concentrated around feeders and 6,000 teu projects.

2nd Hand

A notable sale this week was the modern 2,700 TEU "Sheng Da Heng Qiang" (blt 2024), sold for USD 51 mill, with delivery scheduled upon expiry of her current charter at year-end.
